I am a self-diagnosed neat freak. I love to clean and I love to organize. (If I could have a container, holder and/or label for EVERYTHING, my life would be complete!) And this is my brand new blog for everything NEAT!
I have a toddler in perpetual motion, a packrat daughter, a dog and a disorganized husband... and I hope to share the challenges, trials, errors, rewards and insights of being a bit "too clean obsessive" in a family that's not so in love with neatness. And I am making a promise to clean, rearrange, organize and simplify my life... and help you along the way! SO stay tuned for my journey toward everything orderly and efficient!

Day 53: The Beginnings of a SonicScrubber Super Fan (and a Get Neater GIVEAWAY!)

I was lucky enough to very recently receive a SonicScrubber to test out and review for my "Get Neater" blog... and I agreed -with elation- to try out this very handy little cleaning tool this weekend!

And now that a SonicScrubber is in my possession, I must ask: Where in the world was I that I did not know about this clever and amazing tool!?!?! (I suppose it could be that we haven't had cable TV in our home for 3 years, so I may have missed out on a commercial or two.) But, boy -- am I glad that I have access to one now!

Just to fill you in, the SonicScrubber is like a giant electric toothbrush... with WAY more power.... and way more options!

And I suppose you could clean your teeth with this rotating, power-cleaning wonder tool, but the manufacturers recommend using it for other items... like doors, walls, tile, grout, pots, pans, windows, counters, floors, appliances, furniture, fabric, carpet, toys, baseboards, ovens, grills, and YES... even (and especially) the kitchen sink! *whew!*

With just a twist of the wrist, you can switch the rotating tool or add special, disposable cleaning pads for just about whatever you can think of that needs cleaning! That means I am going to be a very busy (and very happy) cleaning whiz... for quite some time. (I can see this turning into a regular segment! Can't you?)

At any rate, to test out my new SonicScrubber tool, I decided to tackle the stove top. My hubby had recently used it, and that meant a dirty, crusty, splattered mess was left behind. See for yourself! (You can click on the photo to see it in more eeeewy detail!)

Well, I squirted on some stove-top cleaner (the same Cerama Bryte cleaning product that I always use), twisted on the correct SonicScrubber accessory and non-scratch pad... and attacked that cooked-on, stove top gunk. Now, it took a few minutes to work through that cleaning paste, but with barely any effort at all, I had beautiful results. Check it out!

Typically, I spend about 15 minutes of hard, wrist-wrenching scrubbing to get a clean like that! But this suped-up toothbrush did all the work... with much better results! LOVE IT!

I am on a mission now to try the SonicScrubber on everything in my home! Ok, not everything! My 8-month-old son might be a messy eater, but I promise not to SonicScrub the greenbeans off his little chinny-chin-chin! So... just be sure to check back for more posts on this great cleaning tool as I work through my entire house!

Oh... and YOU can try the SonicScrubber in your home, too! I have an extra cleaning tool for this fun - and very first - Get Neater GIVEAWAY! To enter, just leave a comment on THIS post telling me how YOU would use the SonicScrubber to make YOUR home neater! (And get an extra entry if you follow this blog.) 4. Thanks for the FaceBook link!!!!

  5. LOL! This post got me excited about cleaning! I'm gonna be honest here and say that I think I'd use it solely for under the toilet bowl rim! I hate scrubbing that part!

    Happy Monday!

  6. And I am happily following your blog!

  7. Wow, that hob is shiny clean! I have a boyfriend who produces similiar mess so I'd need this to clean up after him!

  11. OMG!!! That thing looks amazing. I have a stove top just like your and I can never seem to get it clean enough. And, I will promise not to use it on my messy 14 month old even though he getting dirty just like yours. Gosh, and with those sticky fingers on my walls, kitchen cabinets, doors, etc. I can only picture the things that I can clean with this thing.

Oh, and I'm one of your blog followers. Thanks for the chance to win.

  12. Count me in! I would definitely use the scrubber in the kitchen to help me when I have to clean up after Anthony's messy roommates. 4 guys in one house can make quite the mess. Thanks so much for all the great tips!

  13. I would use this to clean my shower... for starters!

  14. My reason for winning the sonic scrubber is I am getting older by the moment and I need all the help I can get.

If I dont win where can I buy one.

    regards, Shirley

  15. I need to win because I need some motivation to actually want to clean. Neat gagets interest me, so maybe the cleaning will also!

  16. I need to win because I need to feed my cleaning product addiction. I have the normal girly shopping addictions like dresses and shoes, but cleaning products are up there with them, too! I love your blog and can't wait to get some great organizational tips.

  17. OMG, that is about the coolest thing I've ever seen. I had no idea there was such a thing, although I clean a lot with old toothbrushes and often thought that a battery-operated one would be good to clean with. Guess I could have taken that a step further and invented something like this. So easy to think of AFTER you've seen it!

I can think of thousands of uses for that neat cleaning product. Around all the sinks comes to mind first. Between the baseboards and the floor. The toilet, shower, tub. I recently sent my last baby to college, so I am deep cleaning their rooms and bathroom. This baby would see a ton of use up there!

I just found your blog and feel like I could write it myself. I love cleaning and organizing ~ is this a disease??? LOL. Thanks for speaking to me :)

  18. This is your mom -- I would like to enter the contest, if I can. I don't like to clean, but I would like to have a tool that makes cleaning easier.

  19. I need one of those!! Love the blog! :)

  20. Beth, you KILL me! My hubby is a total gadget guy and takes old tooth brushes out of the trash all the time to keep for cleaning things (anything from cat puke carpet to shinning our tires!). I'd LOVE to get my shower door looking as great as yours - but mostly, I can't wait to see the cleaning frenzie HE would go into with a new tool. ;)
Oh, and I had NO idea you had a blog - when I saw you mention it on fb the other day, I immediately went and bookmarked more way to stalk you. ;)

  21. For those who asked, they are available at:

@Sarah, there is also a Windex automotive line for the hubbys out there!

  22. Love your blog! Lots of GREAT info here, for sure. Thanks for sharing with us!

This little sonicscrubber looks like an awesome lttle helper! I don't have one, however I do have a ceramic top range similar to yours. Love it! It's absolutely the easiest-to-clean range top I've ever had!

For cooked on, burnt on messes, I make a very thick, not too wet, actually rather dry, paste from a small amount of baking soda (in the palm of my hand) and water, put it on the cooked on mess, wait a few minutes, then use a paper towel to scrub the area in a small circular motion. (Sometimes, if the food is really stubborn & burnt on, I'll add a drop of Dawn to the baking soda paste to help soften the stubborn stuff, and might even use a non-scratching scrubbing pad, if necessary) Works like a charm, quick & cheap! Then I give it a lite shot of scrubbing bubbles. Let sit for a few minutes while I do a few other things, then go over it with a soft cloth or paper towel to remove everything else. I give the entire surface a quick wipe and rub down for a beautiful, no haze shine! Only takes a quick, short spray of the scrubbing bubbles. Very quick & easy cleanup!

Thanks for your neat comment!
